Improvements to Camp Lemonier Djibouti, Africa

GER has served as the geotechnical consultant to several design firms in support of infrastructure improvements and expansion of Camp Lemonier in the Republic of Djibouti, Africa.  Our services have included field investigations, subsurface explorations and preparation of technical reports.  To date we have conducted more than 200 SPT soil borings, CPT soundings and test pits at Camp Lemonier along with supporting laboratory and in-situ tests for various projects. Representative projects have included:

·         P-914 and P-906, design-build RFP solicitation for a 1,800 meter parallel bituminous concrete taxiway and a fueling facility to support C-130H, C-17, C-5A and P-3 aircraft.

·         P-907 and P-909, design-build RFP solicitation for a high-bay steel framed hangar building and a 38,000 m2 concrete surfaced parking apron to support C-130H, C-17, C-5A and P-3 aircraft.

·         P-225 and P-230, design-build RFP solicitation for a new single-story dining facility and a new two-story masonry building for the Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa Headquarters.

·         P-237, design-build RFP solicitation for a 1,557 m2 high apparatus bay fire station to accommodate a single engine company fire department to respond to both aircraft and structural fires.

·         P-220, design of four earth covered concrete oval arch ammunition storage magazines and supporting facilities that included an RSSI building, office building and weapons assembly pad.

·         P-235, P-912 and P-916, design of internal and external bituminous concrete roads, perimeter security fencing and three new 10 meter tall precast concrete watch towers.

·         Geophysical survey for ground motion and seismic site class determination for Camp Lemonier.

·         Draw down testing of water supply wells as part of the water production facility expansion.

·         Preliminary geotechnical investigations for various future projects at Camp Lemonier.
