USS Wisconsin Berthing Study

The project site is located adjacent to the north side of the Nauticus National Maritime Center in Norfolk, Virginia.  The project is the berthing and mooring facility for the decommissioned battleship U.S.S. Wisconsin. It involved installation of a underwater cantilever sheet pile cutoff wall to prevent soil subsidence adjacent to Nauticus and dredging a channel to accommodate a laden draft of the ship’s hull. The ship’s bow faces east next to Boush Street and its stern is  toward the west. Two pile supported concrete breasting dolphins were constructedto anchor the ship on its south side between Nauticus.  A ramp was constructed to access the ship from the museum floor level.
