Contamination Assessment of the Swedish Embassy Washington, DC

The Harbourside development project at 2900 K Street, NW in Washington DC (the Project Site) consists of two low rise office buildings joined by an underground parking garage.  We understand that the Harbourside complex was flooded by an extreme rain event on the night of Sunday, June 25, 2006.  The underground garage was reportedly filled to a depth of several feet with blackwater from a combined sewer.  The elevator pits extend below the garage floor, and were flooded; some of the elevator cars were flooded, as well.  The entire first floor of the south building and portions of the first floor of the north building were impacted with water, which reportedly flowed in from Rock Creek.  A large quantity of tools and materials which were in the first floor and garage levels at the time of the flood were contaminated. Our CIH prepared protocols for the remediation and sampling procedures.
